Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

The best way to see the whales is on the Hoonah Whale boat. Only six people ona smaller boat,so we were always the first to arrive at a sighting. The Captain and his wife were exceptionally congenial. I highly recommend this tour.

My family booked this excursion during our visit to Icy Strait off of Celebrity Millennium. This is a very special area and our favorite port during the visit. Being on a small boat with 6 passengers vs the big tour boat offered as a ship excursion made a huge difference on our day. Jordan is truly a "Whale Whisperer" and was a joy to spend the morning with on this tour. He has deep connections to the area. From being picked up at the dock to our return it was joy! And YES, a whale did breach 50 yards off the boat!

My husband and I booked this tour with our two daughters and OMG am I glad we did! We were picked up at our cruise ship, delivered to the dock and welcomed on board with fresh baked muffins. Captain Jordan and his wife were so kind and invested in making this an amazing experience for our family. We saw eagles, whales, harbor seals, sea lions, sea otters and a bear! The next day we took another whale tour with a different company...it cost more, we didn't see anything beyond the whales and the ship didn't give you a warm welcoming feeling. Thank you SO much Hoonah Whale Tours! We will tell everyone we know that you are THE PLACE to go when in Icy Straight Point, Alaska!
