This is expensive but well worth it. Dress warm bring layers including gloves and hat and wind breaker. Our Captain was excellent and went out of his way to make the trip memorable. He knew exactly where to take us to see the best scenery and wildlife. We had great weather and made it to the glacier without issues. We saw orcas, whales, sea lions and lots of birds. The lunch was not great but didnt spoil the trip. The hot chocolate cookies on the way back really hit the spot.

This was my second time on this tour which goes out for about nine hours to see the Aialik Glacier that is part of the Harding Ice Field in Kenai Fjords National Park. My first trip was 15 years ago and this trip was with may 15-year-old son, who enjoyed it. This trip also has a stop for dinner on an island on the return trip near Seward that features an all-you-cafe to eat salmon buffet. Our captain was an excellent tour guide. We saw humpback whales, orcas, stellar sea lions, seal, and of course sea otters. When the seas got stacked up he was master of throttle control to minimize the pounding. Despite this, quiet a few people were tossing their cookies overboard. If you think you might get seasick, take your medication at least an hour BEFORE you get on the boat. My son was actually disappointed because he wanted to the captain to take a few swells on the beam just to feel the power of the ocean. Also, bring layers of clothing. It's a maritime climate. My only nit has nothing to do with the the people who work the tour. Because the weather was rainy at times, most people chose to sit indoors. There was enough seats for everyone to be inside, but you could never tell which seats where open because backpacks and jackets were left on them. That meant crew member were constantly asking people. if seats were available. Highly recommend. Also, bring some cash and tip the crew. I gave $20 for the two of us.

Warning. If you can, make reservations when the day is beautiful, do so. I made reservations months in advance, my fault. The day cruise should have been cancelled due to high water, winds and scenery practically invisible. Yes, weather here can change in this beautiful region later in the day, so I would recommend taking the five hour Resurrection Bay cruise with lunch at Fox Island. Anyhow, on this dangerous all day cruise, we could still view the striking Aialik Glacier and this made up for it all. Also, their buffet dinner at Fox Island was just outstanding and I went back for a second plate. Lunch on board was great too. I usually never give bad revues, but I feel this was necessary as the ship could have been a little larger and not as cramped. There was no complimentary tea or coffee either.
