My husband and I (both in our forties) went on 07.21.21 and had an absolute BLAST! We're both LEGO fans and we spent a little over 6 hours there, which was plenty of time to explore the park at a leisurely pace. We went on the Factory Adventure ride, the Ninjago ride, the Splash Blasters, the Dragon coaster (twice), we watched the 4D movie, explored the mini city, had some snacks throughout the park, ate a late lunch at Brickbeard's Food Market, and went shopping in the Big Shop. Our favorite things were the Dragon coaster, the Splash Blasters, and shooting the water canons at other people riding from the sides. I haven't laughed as hard as I did playing with the Splash Blasters in a VERY long time, and this was, hands down, the highlight of our day! We only waited maybe 5min for Splash Blaster ride, and walked onto the others.
The park is super new and super clean! I hope that level of cleanliness and detail (everything shiny and new, no chipped paint) continues into the future, because those bathrooms were flawless. Employees were kind, and most even told us to "have fun!" or asked if we were having fun.
Food is expensive obv but the quality at Brickbeard's was very good, my turkey panini was delicious, and my husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich. We considered the pizza/pasta buffet but it smelled weird in there and once we saw the actual buffet we felt the quality/value wasn't there for us. Brickbeard's had a great selection and it had a great scent in there, kinda like Pirates of the Carribbean. We had a pretzel and "cheese dip" out in the park and it was awful. The "cheese dip" was some kind of orange water, and they need to get rid of it, so SO gross.
The Dragon ride is more than a coaster, it's also a dark ride with some amazing sets inside! I could go on that over and over. More thrilling than I was expecting, but it's a quick ride. My husband enjoyed taking pics of all the LEGO sets and sculptures throughout the park (and parents REALLY need to read the signs and keep their kids from climbing on them, I mean...come ON).
There is not a lot of shade, like others have said, so bring sunscreen and a hat. Once those new trees grow up, it'll be great. It's also very hilly and quite a lot of walking so get ready. Some of the mechanical parts of mini city weren't working yet, but a most were, and it was still amazing to see. I wish there were placards that said what everything was, how many bricks, how long to build, etc...
Overall, it was a great day, worth the (almost) $200 in admission and parking, the same in food/souvenirs, and our 2 hour drive each way. We were hoping to stay overnight in the hotel, but maybe next time. That's the thing about a new park...maybe everything isn't 100% yet, but now we can look forward to seeing/doing new things next time we go.
Just wanted to add some perspective on Legoland NY from a couple of adult LEGO fans. We had a great day.
