The Mauna Kea Summit Sunset and Stars tour is an absolute must-do for anyone visiting the Big Island. From start to finish, the experience was flawlessly organized, educational, and awe-inspiring. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the cultural and scientific significance of Mauna Kea, which added incredible depth to the journey. The drive to the summit was smooth, and the views along the way were stunning. Reaching the top of the world at nearly 14,000 feet was a surreal moment. Watching the sun dip below the horizon from the summit was breathtaking, with a palette of colors painting the sky like a masterpiece. But the real magic began after sunset. Once darkness fell, the stars came alive in a way I’ve never seen before. The clarity of the night sky at that altitude is unparalleled. The guides provided high-quality telescopes and shared fascinating insights about constellations, planets, and even galaxies. Seeing the night sky that full of stars was quite the experience. Family enjoyed the star gazing and views before sunset of the surrounding areas.

Amazing one of a kind views. Zach an Mitch were excellent guides that made the experience fun and informative. The coats provided were nice knee length coats that were super warm. Our only knock on the trip was not having a more established stargazing area. Having some of those reclining folding chairs would have made all the difference so we could lay back and really stare at the sky. Having to look up for that long was straining on the neck towards the end. But it's understandable that finding a spot and hauling chairs might be hard to do in that area. It was definitely worth the money for us, highly suggest.
