We had a wonderful time on our Mendenhall Glacier Lake canoe tour. The operator, Liquid Alaska, picked us up at the cruise dock and brought us to the lake where they provided us with full rain gear, boots, life jackets water, and snacks. There were 10 of us in the super sized canoe. We paddled about two miles to the glacier where we paddled within about 200feet of the glacier. We spent some time there before paddling to Nugget waterfall. Our guide, Devyn shared historical facts about the glacier, evolution of the natural growth cycle in the area, and provided details about local wildlife, area mountains, and glacial sediments coloring the lake. After returning to shore we were treated to hot cocoa, hot cider, and coffee. We were then brought back to the ship. We enjoyed the not too strenuous tour, taking in the beautiful day and the beautiful natural surroundings. Devyn did a nice job keeping the tour safe and interesting. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the glacier up close and take more of the Alaskan beauty in.
