Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE a hike.

This is a 4 hour all inclusive tour, including 2 hours paddling around the Mendenhall Lake to see the Mendenhall Glacier and experience the wild of Alaska in the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States.

Our entire tour takes place in Tongass National Forest. We bring guests out to the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area to the West Side Glacier Parking area. This is where our tour gears up, goes over safety and paddling instructions and starts our paddle to the Mendenhall Glacier- all located in the Tongass National Forest.

The trip was well worth it our guide Sophie was amazing. My wife was stressed before this trip and was thinking about bailing out when we met Sophie She changed her mind and we are glad we did. She was the best great tour.!!

I absolutely loved this tour so much! I was worried a bit about canoeing in such cold weather, but I was impressed with the water proof equipment that they provided! I was very comfortable, and the view was 100000% worth the effort it took to canoe, and the money spent on the tour. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone visiting Juneau. It is so authentic and it’s clear that keeping old traditions is a value of this company which I really admire. During the tour I felt so at peace. I felt like I was completely away from the world and just with nature (hopefully that doesn’t sound too cliche). I felt very grounded in that moment. My tour guide was Justin and he was a very funny guy, and definitely helped make the trip very memorable. It’s clear he has a lot of passion for his work, and it shows and is effective in making his group feel his passion as well. At some point he got us to start singing “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift, which I know everyone found extremely hilarious. He made the tour so much fun, was so encouraging, and still kept us engaged in learning about the environment of Alaska, history of glaciers, and so much more. Overall this was an extremely wonderful experience and it was very memorable. If me and my family were to come back here I know we would all do this tour again (preferably with Justin!)
