Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE a hike.

This is a 4 hour all inclusive tour, including 2 hours paddling around the Mendenhall Lake to see the Mendenhall Glacier and experience the wild of Alaska in the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States.

Our entire tour takes place in Tongass National Forest. We bring guests out to the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area to the West Side Glacier Parking area. This is where our tour gears up, goes over safety and paddling instructions and starts our paddle to the Mendenhall Glacier- all located in the Tongass National Forest.

We wanted a bit of adventure and to get close to a glacier. Led by the excellent team leads Shayla and Sophie, we set off for the 2.5 miles canoe along with another 10 adventurers. We stopped close to the glacier and walked a short distance to get closer views. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and Shayla and Sophie were very knowledgeable about the glacier and the surrounding area. The hot chocolate was a nice touch to end the adventure. Just a note: We were on a cruise and got back in plenty of time before the cruise ship left. Welly boots,waterproofs, and safety equipment were provided.

Canoeing to Mendenhall Glacier with Shayla as our guide was a fantastic experience! Her energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge made the tour both informative and fun. Even on her last canoe tour of the season, Shayla was as fresh and friendly as if it were her first—highly recommend!

We loved our mendenhall glacier canoe adventure with Liquid Alaska! Fantastic experience all around, the glacier and waterfall views are stunning and well worth the paddling exertion. We had rainy cloudy weather but it truly didn’t take away from the trip, I wouldn’t let weather scare you off this one! Our tour guide Riley was awesome, she kept spirits high the whole way and even went the extra mile and proved to be a great barista in the end. Don’t miss out on seeing the glacier up close!
