I have only good things to say about this. We considered renting a car to visit Muir Woods and are glad we didn't. The timing of this experience was perfect - a quick break to see the bridge and visit the restroom, 90 minutes at Muir Woods (which was plenty), and then 90 minutes in Sausolito. The bus driver gave history of the area as well as recommendations on which path to take at Muir and where to eat in Sausolito. We opted to take the bus back to our pickup point and were happy with that decision too.

We took this tour back in May 2022. We’re glad we did as Muir Woods is special. We went with the 10:40am pickup to allow time for coffee and breakfast, a wise choice as there were limited options until Sausalito. The tour bus was very comfortable and our guide/driver was great. Can’t remember his name, but he was funny and very knowledgeable. The trees in Muir Woods are a sight to behold. We would’ve liked longer there but tour groups are limited to 90 minutes. If you want to stay for longer and do some hikes (we did after getting there) consider alternative transport options. After the woods we were taken to Sausalito. A pretty town with great views of San Francisco across the bay, but quite touristy and expensive. Avoid the naff overpriced ice cream: 20 dollars for 2 scoops each of flavourless iced matter 😮. We chose the option to return to SF by ferry, which we recommend as you get a great view of the Golden Gate bridge (if the weather’s on your side). If you’re wearing a hat, keep hold of it.
