Our family of 4 has taken foodie tours in many cities around the world and this was one of the best. We thoroughly enjoyed the food—and tried and liked some foods we’d never have tried on our own—got plenty to eat, and learned a lot about some of the neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Although 3 hours, the walking was very manageable and spread out with long breaks at each shop. We got to try a bit of everything: cheese, bread, cookies, beer, bagels & smoked salmon, spinach pie, biscotti, coffee, and egg creams. This is the kind of tour where you immerse yourself in the culture in a way you couldn’t do if you just visited all the shops on your own. Tour guide Brian Hoffman was excellent! He knew so much about the area—its history, its people, and its food...and he obviously had a great relationship with the proprietors in the businesses we visited. He took the time to get to know the 7 of us on his tour, and was willing to offer us suggestions on places to eat elsewhere in the city...he hosts many tours for Urban Adventures all over the city, and he’s a food blogger in his spare time, so he really knows his stuff. We would take another Urban Adventures tour in a heartbeat, and it would be a total bonus if Brian was our tour guide again.
