Truly excellent tour. Kathy was knowledgeable and inviting, and conveyed with a great personal touch the history and community of the Castro. Would highly recommend if you want to get a real feeling for the area and its significance in wider society!

This fact-filled walking tour is ideal for seniors who have lived through the pertinent history, as well as for younger people desirous of understanding their “diversity” roots … also for those others who are simply curious. Kathy, the tour guide, has exhaustive knowledge of the subjects—history of the Castro as well as LGBTQ(etc.) history worldwide—and shares it in a way that rivets your attention. Her secret is a longtime involvement in the diversity movement; she was/is a direct contributor and participant. The tour itself is do-able for seniors, as it involves no steep inclines; on the other hand, it covers a significant portion of the District. Kathy is so personable that you often feel you’re out for a stroll—albeit a very interesting one—with an old friend. If you do nothing else while visiting the Castro, don’t miss the Cruisin’ the Castro Walking Tour. Chances are you’ll come away not only better informed, but also moved by the experience and charmed by your host.

We've been to the Castro 5 or 6 times but this tour took us places we had not been before and explained a lot of the history of the neighborhood and the GLBTQ History of the area. A great tour.
