We just took this tour and had a wonderful time! Our guide, Shannon, was terrific! I learned so much new and interesting information about Savannah. Furthermore, her presentation was riveting. She could be a stand-up commedienne. Interaction is the best way to learn. The tour required walking, but the distances were pleasant. While not exhausting, persons with mobility issues would find the trek difficult. The restaurants and staff were also engaging and delightful. In two places, we were offered to purchase cocktails. That added a little joy to the day. It was nice to sit as a group and have enough privacy to talk even during regular business hours. I read that some people didn't like the food. While I had some samples I favored more than others , I found all the food to be tasty. To those people who complained I reply, "It's OK if you don't like everything - - you didn't order it - - that's why it's called a tasting. Get over it." The company was sensitive to dietary restrictions and the group was able to give feedback after the tour. I thought these three hours were the best way to spend an afternoon in Savannah. By the way, we ordered our tickets from Viatour. Viatour has a refund policy. We didn't but tickets directly from the company because the website stated that they did not have a refund policy.

Racheol was an amazing host, sharing a lot of history and stories. Food tour was good. I would skip the honey spot that looked more like a sales visit and the man who helped us in the Empanadas place had a very bad attitude. Also the empanadas were nothing but real: l almost empty and store bought pastry. I recommend the tour for a eelaxing mix of history and local food

We went on the First Squares Food tour with Rachel. I cannot say enough good about Rachel! She is an amazing tour guide--full of energy, knowledge, and takes great care of her group. Rachel shared a plethora of information on Savannah's history and culture during and between food stops. Concerning food, this tour gave great food history but the food variety and selection was greatly lacking. I have gone on many food tours around the US and around the world. The portions on this tour were very small when it came to the good/authentic local food. It was carb-heavy, so you walk away full, but not satisfied that you had a nice variety of tastes and types of food. Most of the flavors were similar types (bread with a little meat) without anything to balance it out. I was very disappointed with the desert sampling at the Savannah Bee company. It was informative, but after the tour, in the shop we received almost exactly the same tastings for free at the staff. Not one beverage (alcoholic or otherwise) was included in tastings. We were not even served water at all of the places. Overall, this is an easy-to-book and find tour, informative with mediocre food selections. It was a nice way to start our trip to Savannah, but I would not do this tour again especially at this price.

Thank you for your feedback. We are proud to provide a tour that highlights the historical significance of the food from Savannah. We regret that you found those foods lacking in variety. Specifically, we regret that shrimp'n'grits, a sausage roll, a fried green tomato & pimento cheese biscuit, she-crab soup, and an authentic chicken empanada reminiscent of those enjoyed by the Spanish who occupied much of the land surrounding Savannah for 200 years before the British arrived, was not enough of a variety or interest to you . . . but that's the food of our city. We hope that you will continue to enjoy delicious food tours around the US and the World without finding the need to compare them to each other, but enjoy each city for what it is in its own right.
