After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

My husband and I went on this trip and loved every minute of it. We had a rental car and were considering driving the 3-4 hours from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon in an attempt to save money. I am SO GLAD we did not. Our tour guides name was Stephen and he was amazing. The knowledge he had and he shared with us was much appreciated - history, wild life, nature, etc. He used to be a park ranger at the Grand Canyon. He knew all the good spots to stop to, from, and at the Canyon and gave us plenty of time to stretch legs and use bathroom. Once at the Canyon he takes you to some good spots and talks more facts and history then you have 2 hours to explore on your own. You are gone for 12 hours so be prepared. We were exhausted when we got back. Bring a pillow to sleep on the way home on the bus! Would 5/5 recommend this trip!

Diane was an amazing story teller! She explained the history very well. I enjoyed listening to the personal experiences she had as well. If you want an exceptional adventure, I’d recommend Diane!

Or tour guide (Mac) was really great. He kept the trip fun and informative for the whole group. I learned quite a lot from him during the trip.
