The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

This was a great tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and a great driver. If you are looking for more to see on Route 66 as we were, don’t expect a lot there. The summary of the trip made it seem like there was more to see at the stop. But where that part lacked, the Canyon tour made up for it. You’re taken to spots that are not super popular, giving you the best chance for views and pictures. It was the perfect amount of time for seeing things there. The bus was surprisingly very comfortable. With the high wind speed, it shook a lot. Someone with a bad very back might not be able to remain comfortable, but for us we were fine. Overall, this was a very great trip. If you are unsure about spending the money for a tour, I would say go for it. Driving the four hours from Phoenix you see A LOT, but if we had driven ourselves we wouldn’t have known what we were seeing or the history.

My favorite part of the experience was the different views of the canyon as well as the historic stop in Williams. Bruce was a great guide and I loved all the cacti information as well as the high and low dessert scenery on the way there and back. It’s a long day but it flies by!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Advised us on the best way to navigate the rim of the canyon and took us to the most scenic areas. Also saw Antelope and horses running free!
