After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

Visit the historic El Tovar Lodge, Hopi House, Mather Point or Yavapai Point, the Geology Museum and more incredible viewpoints! While at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, you will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or enjoy lunch (own expense) and relax with the best seat in the house.

My wife & I were picked up at the Westin in Scottsdale around 6:30 am. The venture started out “interesting” as we mistakenly got into an Uber (brand new fully loaded Buick SUV). Fortunately after about the first 5 minutes we all realized the error and headed back to the Westin where Joe (our real driver) was waiting for us. We then continued the journey to pick up 5 more passengers at various hotels. The trip was filled with Joe giving us lots of historical facts about the area and he also cracked a few jokes (Joe needs new joke material but regardless they were funny). We stopped in Williams on RT 66 for some shopping and photo ops. We then proceeded to the airport at the Grand Canyon to drop off Dr Chris for his helicopter ride. Joe then drove us to a fantastic area overlooking the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We were treated to spectacular sights and even some authentic native dances. After a few hours of site seeing Joe picked us all up for the ride back where we saw several dear and elk grazing in the woods. Throughout the trip Our driver Joe was very personable, knowledgeable and friendly. We would highly recommend taking this day tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Joe as your driver/tour guide. The Aubrey’s

Our driver / guide was extremely knowlegable about Arizon and the Grand Canyon. Jon was an encyclopedia of knowledge. This was easily worth every dollar spent on the tour. I doubt I could have as efficiently pulled this off as the tour did. I highly recommend and to one and all.
