A qualified instructor will meet you at beach access #16, located at 4400 Gulf Blvd., South Padre Island, Texas. There you will learn a series of techniques for building and carving a better sandcastle. This is hands-on instruction, and in 1 hour you will have a completed (or mostly completed) sand castle, perfect for a family photo op.

This was such a fun sand castle making class! The whole family loved it (even the teens). Would definitely recommend if headed to SPI!

Seemed a little rushed - sometimes little patience with our group Good moments of teaching and the couple allowed us to keep some tools with us until we left the island

I am sorry you felt rushed - you opted for the 1-hr lesson - and we actually stayed longer than that with your group. Our goal is to pass on as many skills as we can in the allotted time so that you can use them when you are off on your own. If you want us to stay and build the whole castle with you, we need more than an hour.... :)

What a fun experience! Our family of 6 adults (4 young adults and 2 "mature" adults) booked this about a week before our visit to South Padre. The night before our scheduled lesson, one person from our party was delayed due to a flight cancellation. We contacted the owner and she happily rescheduled us for a later time so that everyone could attend. We met our instructor (sorry I didn't catch his name) at beach access #16. He brought the tools. We were amazed at what we learned. I've been making (bad/sad) sand castles for so many years. Now, our whole family has the skills to make beautiful castles! It was interesting to learn how to build a solid base, and then the fun part for me was "decorating" - adding steps, windows and doors. One and a half hours was a good amount of time for the lesson. After the lesson, we went back to "our" beach and made several more amazing castles. Our instructor was friendly and informative, right on time, and very knowledgeable. I'd definitely recommend this lesson, and my family is excited to take the advanced lesson the next time we are in South Padre.
