Great little cruise around the bay. Cheaper than the red and white line. Dress accordingly since it is super windy out there and cold. You can hang out inside as well. Bathrooms are on board as well as snacks for a fee. Cruise to bridge, then Alcatraz then back to pier.

Yes, it can be very chilly. It's best to layer when visiting anywhere in the San Francisco Bay, but particularly in San Francisco and on the Bay itself. Thank you for your kind review. We appreciate your feedback.

This is the second time I've ridden with Blue&Gold. Went to Alcatraz with them 15 years ago. Great boats and crew. Good tour of the bay including going under The Golden Gate Bridge and slow circle around Alcatraz. Walked up to the kiosk at Pier 39 on a very busy Saturday around noon and bought a "Family Pass" for 5 for $115 and walked on the boat 4 minutes later. No long lines or waiting with my two whiney teens. Heck of a deal for a nice easy 60 minute cruise. Slow pass by the famous Pier 41 seals. Beer on board, great narrated tour. Position yourself near a speaker as it can get hard to hear over the wind when the boat speeds up. They also have a podcast you can tap into on your SmartPhone Special bonus; after the cruise they offer you a discounted ride on the Rocking Rocket jet boat when you show your Bay cruise ticket. $36 for a 45 minute ride for me and my two sons. Very fun ride that jostles you around, gets you wet AND you get to go under the Oakland Bay Bridge instead. More worth it than I expected at that price.

If you are in San Francisco and want to take a relaxing cruise on the Bay, this is a good option. There is a pre-recorded commentary that plays during the cruise so you’ll get a lot of history along with information on what you are seeing. The outside areas with seating get filled up fast, so unless you want to stand in line for quite a while (on a Saturday, people were lined up at least an hour before the cruise) you’ll probably end up standing or sitting inside.
