Our group of 19, led by Mary E. and driver Dan, included people from all over the world. The ride in the large bus was smooth and fast. Mary E's tour patter was cute and N'awlins genuine and full of interesting little things to pay attention to as we passed by, from downtown New Orleans tall buildings and statues to Lake Ponchartrain and why exactly the city flooded under Hurricane Katrina.
Our time at the Plantation was low key/interesting and gave a look at an antebellum operation, with a real emphasis put on bringing the too-long-lived slave world to life (it wasn't pretty). The bayou boat trip down winding green waters was rather relaxing on a nice autumn day, and our Cajun boat driver was a real hoot--informed and dead-pan funny. Liked the Cajun music, too. We saw more than a few sunning alligators and got to hold a baby gator, too. All in all, this afternoon trip out of the city was nicely done, easy, and well worth the fee.
