Although called a lake, this is actually a large lagoon and brackish estuary fed by fresh water rivers and connected to the Gulf of Mexico. Covering 630 square miles (1600 km2) it is one of the largest wetlands in North America.

Great trip tour guides on the coach, at the plantation and the swamp ride were fantastic would highly recommend booking.

I liked how we got to go on a tour of the house but we got plenty of free time to explore the grounds. The swamp tour was great! We say alligators, wild pig/boar, raccoons and birds (I forget the names). Overall it was an amazing experience and our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable
