The tour guide can make or break the trip; the guide we had was not good. An older man from Central American who conducted the trip in English and Italian and did not have a great fluent grasp on English and a heavy accent. He had no interest in what he was talking about, no enthusiasm in the trip and kept us in the dark about the itinerary until we were, for example, out front of the White House where he'd say, "and over there is the White House". He told us hardly any history about Washington or each of the building and seemed to dislike his job.
The trip in itself took as to some of the major sights in Washington, but could be better planned.
You get to see all the main sights in the capital. Unfortunately there were street blockages outside the White House so we were only able to view it from the back. They are also doing alot of excavation and remodelling of the big lake (the one you see in Forrest Gump) between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. That was definitely a disappointment. We would like to have been able to go to the Smithsonium Museum of Natural History rather than the Air and Space Museum. It's a long day with lots of time on the road but well worth the effort.
Great trip with a very good english speaking tour guide. got to see all the major tourist attractions although it felt a little rushed due to the long journey back to new york city.
