  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Check-in is 15 minutes prior to start time.
  • If the guest needs a wheelchair lift equipped bus, then special arrangements need to be made with the supplier. This must be arranged 48 hours prior to tour date. Contact details will be on your voucher.
  • Guests visiting Whitney using a wheelchair will have access to the gift shop, restrooms, and museum. The plantation grounds are accessible; however, there are uneven gravel paths. The main house tour is not accessible to guest traveling in wheelchairs and is not required to be modified as it is a historic home; however, the first floor is accessible. Guests would be able to view the slave quarters, but would not have access to enter.

Whitney Plantation is an absolute must. If you were to visit just one plantation, go see this one. The history, imagery, reflection and focus is on the lives of the people who were enslaved at that plantation and at others along the Mississippi in Louisiana. The memorial wall of enslaved people, the children's memorial, the resistance, all of it. I'm from Ghana and I would have been classified as an enslaved person from "Mina Nation", being from the El Mina area in the Gold Coast. That really struck me. I appreciate the sobering lessons.

Alton was our driver . He was kind and his voice wasn’t boring like other tour guides . He was knowledgeable and very respectful and personable. The tour was interesting and gave me and my friends the insight we needed . It was a emotional experience to see everything we went through..definitely recommend to other to see beside bourbon street

It was a great tour to a plantation that was focused on the perspectives of those who were enslaved. Our tour bus driver was phenomenal. Very nice and knowledgeable. The bus was comfortable and the driver made the ride an enjoyable one with his humor and interesting facts about New Orleans and the plantations.
