Monterey Bay is the premier destination for whale watching all year. Your daily 3-hour, whale watch trip is narrated by a marine biologist or naturalist who provides educational and interesting information about whales, dolphins, and a wide variety of marine wildlife. In addition to teaching you about the wildlife, your marine biologists and naturalists will provide information about the natural history of the local area and talk about conservation.

We were lucky enough to see a pod of Killer Whales. The crew were fantastic, very knowledgeable and passionate about their work. Answering everyone’s questions with enthusiasm. Isaiah especially was fun and clearly enjoyed his job, even signing us in and out of the harbour! Great fun and well worth the money! If you get the chance to go then it’s a must!

We had some really rough seas and rain when I was there back at the beginning of March, but I was so thrilled to check this off my bucket list to at least experience whale watching. As a professional wildlife photographer, I was really hoping to photograph the whales, but the seas were so rough, it was hard to get the whales in the small hole I could see through my telephoto lens. We saw seven gray whales, and one Humpback whale on a morning tour that was from 10 AM to 1 PM the 9th of March. The captain was Captain Rod, and the photographer/social media person was Amanda and the deckhand was Johan and the Wildlife interpreter was Isaiah. They were all super nice and very helpful and informative. I had a great time, and would definitely go back again with Discovery Whale Watch! The crew made my first experience of whale watching a great experience!
