A local guide will show you all of the highlights of Acadia National Park plus the famous Somes Sound and Asticou Gardens!

We will pick you up and we’ll drive along the stunning 27-mile long Park Loop Road up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on the eastern seaboard. From Cadillac you can see spectacular views of Bar Harbor and the surrounding islands.

See all of the famous sites on the Park Loop Road, including Cadillac Mountain, Rockefeller’s stone bridges & Carriage House, Otter Cliffs, Thunder Hole, and Sieur du Monts Gardens and Nature Center. See Sand Beach surrounded by the famous pink granite coastline.

We will continue out of the park to see the summer colony of Northeast Harbor and stroll through the famous Asticou Gardens. See gorgeous harbors, yachts and picnic boats.

We can stop and stay as long as you would like at each location. We will point out trailheads and carriage roads to explore on your own.

Somes Sound

Somes Sound is a fjord, a body of water running deep into Mount Desert Island, the main site of Acadia National Park in Maine, United States. Its deepest point is approximately 175 feet, and it is over 100 feet deep in several places. The sound almost splits the island in two.

We were undecided if we would rent a vehicle and attempt to see Acadia Nat'l Park and area on our own or hire a driver. This was our second last cruise port and heard so much about the beauty of Acadia, so we decided to hire a private driver and see if through the eyes of a local. "Bill" was our driver and guide, a local who knew the history inside out, added humor throughout, and gave an excellent tour. Bill also had treats for us - Bar Harbor blueberry soda, bottled water and assorted crackers - which was unexpected by greatly appreciated. This was a 4 hour tour which gave us plenty of time to catch lunch and see more of Bar Harbor townsite. Bill made this tour interesting and highly recommend this tour! You won't be disappointed.
