This is a very long tour, over 13 hours start to finish, so be prepared. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and stoped three times more for other guests before setting out. Stopped briefly to look at the Pipeline where Jake explained some the construction. Then a brief stop to buy drinks and snacks for the road and onward to the Dalton Highway. Stopped to view the sign where we were attacked by mosquitos. Warning, carry some bug spray or they will really annoy you. Here the highway turned into a dirt road that Jake navigated well, avoiding as many of the potholes as possible. 200 miles and 7 hours later we were at the Arctic Circle where we stayed to get the obligatory photos and back in the van for the return journey.
We stopped a few times for bathroom breaks and got back to town around 9:00 pm.
Jake was a very careful driver and knew his flora and fauna. However, he is not your typical extrovert tour guide type, which is not always a bad thing. Being a local he definitely knew what he was doing.
Bottom line is a great tour but be prepared for a long day and pack the bug stray!
