This diversity is perhaps best represented through Flushing’s stellar food scene. On this walk through the neighborhood, we’ll explore the area’s almost mind-blowing culinary diversity while also learning about Flushing’s fascinating history. We’ll visit vendors, the outdoor stands of local restaurants and some of Flushing’s mall-based food courts – considered by locals to have some of the area’s best eats – tasting delicacies from China, Korea, Vietnam and other countries. From stalls selling Hong Kong-style dim sum and snacks to bakeries turning out the Korean take on French pastries and a visit to a local kimchi maker, we’ll dive deep into the best that the neighborhood has to offer. On our Flushing food tour, we’ll take a look at some of area’s unique cultural markers, from a storefront Daoist temple to the Flushing Quaker Meeting House, built in 1694 – a testament to the important role the area, originally a Dutch settlement, has played in the history of New York.

All of the food was very good, the walk was easy and informative. A little of history and a lot of food and beverages. We had a great time!

I booked this tour for my boyfriends birthday with Esneider since we just moved to Queens from LI and are trying to fully experience the amazing food here. Flushing is jam packed of incredible, authentic food and it can be a little hard to navigate on your own at first. Esneider was an amazing tour guide. He is extremely knowledgable about the area and beyond. His knowledge of history and different countries ties into the tour perfectly. He took us to at least 10 different places in Flushing; some of which had been on my radar and some that I definitely never would have found. Everything was in about a 2 block radius which just proves how insane and full of gems Flushing is! I am pescatarian and Esneider catered to that perfectly while everyone else on the tour had other meat. Such an amazing experience; Would definitely plan to take other tours with Culinary Backstreets, and would highly recommend this tour to anyone! It definitely makes Flushing a little less intimidating.

My husband and I loved the tour! The food was great, and the best part was discovering places we likely would not have gone into. Our guide Esneider was really knowledgeable and deeply connected with Queens and its history. Would definitely do another tour with him!
