This diversity is perhaps best represented through Flushing’s stellar food scene. On this walk through the neighborhood, we’ll explore the area’s almost mind-blowing culinary diversity while also learning about Flushing’s fascinating history. We’ll visit vendors, the outdoor stands of local restaurants and some of Flushing’s mall-based food courts – considered by locals to have some of the area’s best eats – tasting delicacies from China, Korea, Vietnam and other countries. From stalls selling Hong Kong-style dim sum and snacks to bakeries turning out the Korean take on French pastries and a visit to a local kimchi maker, we’ll dive deep into the best that the neighborhood has to offer. On our Flushing food tour, we’ll take a look at some of area’s unique cultural markers, from a storefront Daoist temple to the Flushing Quaker Meeting House, built in 1694 – a testament to the important role the area, originally a Dutch settlement, has played in the history of New York.

My daughter (age 19) and I loved this tour! Sierra, our guide, was truly outstanding. He was knowledgeable, personable and so much fun. The 6 hours just flew by. I enjoyed not only eating all the delicious food but also learning about some of the ingredients through visiting grocery stores. I liked eating in the food courts and sampling food from so many different restaurants, including a Uwghur one. This tour was a highlight of our week in NYC.

Sierra was a fantastic tour guide! Despite some inclement weather, we were able to get a full experience and had SO much incredible food. From wontons to handmade noodles to egg tarts, the food just kept coming. Sierra was extremely knowledgeable not only about the food we were eating, but about the cuisine, culture, and history of Flushing! This tour is highly recommended whether or not you live in the city or not!

I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Sierra, was endlessly resourceful, knowledgable, enthusiastic, and flexible guiding us through a challenging day weather wise (it was pouring)! I actually live in NYC and consider myself to know a lot about local food and history and I learned a huge amount I didn't know, visited a number of delicious restaurants and food stalls I had never been to, and saw really cool supermarkets and food courts that I had not been aware of either.
