On Ghost City's Ghosts of Liberty Tour, you will see Haunted Charleston in a completely new way. You will view the Holy City through the paranormal lens of those who risked life and limb for Charleston and the birth of a nation. Combining aspects of Charleston's famous ghost stories with the lesser-known haunted tales of the Holy City, the Ghosts of Liberty Tour is a never before seen glimpse at the ghosts of Charleston who, while living, fought so valiantly to keep the city united.

Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. Once a walled prison, it has been a haven for those seeking freedom as well as a dark and gruesome spot for prisoners caught on the wrong side of authority.

My husband and I went on the Death and Depravity Tour. It took about 90 minutes and had about 6 stops, covering approximately a mile and a half. Lance, our tour guide, was entertaining, informative, and funny. He related a bunch of the city's history and, in particular, how it related to macabre or seamy events. The tour is R-rated because of the mature content (prostitution, executions, torture, murder, etc). But, it isn't a ghost tour, per se. Lance did talk about ghost sightings, and you will visit graveyards (you're not permitted to enter them because they're either under renovation or off limits to the public); but don't expect to actually see any ghosts or paranormal activity. It's all in good fun, and part of the entertainment of the tour is visiting some of the places at night. The city has a very different character after 10pm. Lance was a great guide. He has a salty sense of humor, and knows his history.

We did the Ghosts of Liberty tour on our recent trip. Don was our guide. He did a fabulous job. Lots of very interesting history and chilling stories. Our kids - aged 13 to 20 - all loved it. Thanks for a great experience!

The best thing we did in Charleston!!!! Lance was fantastic, he was informative and funny to top it all off! He instructed us from the beginning on what to expect from the tour. He went above and beyond. He took everything to another level.
