I recomend you select a downtown hotel. You are walking distance to the Strip, North Side, Station Square, and the Southside. I stayed in Wyndam Grand Pittsburg.
Tuesdays are Jazz Live concerts. I unexpectively was entertained by Kevin Howard, Dr Bill Holt & company in a 2 hr gig within walking distance.
It was off to Carrie Blast Furnaces in Rankin Pa on day 2. During my 2 hour tour I learned about the rise and fall of the Pa steel industry. This tour was so popular that I had to purchase my ticket a week in advance.
On day 3 it was off to The Negro Motor Green Book exhibit at Senator John Heinz History Center. The Green Book was the guide for safe travel by people of color published annually from 1940 - 1960. It took me 2 hours to take in all the exhibit material. There were alot of people at this exhibit.
During the rest of my stay, I went to Frick Pittsburg, and 2 Auto shows.
Going to Pittsburg was a good choice. Dining is Pittsburg's weakness.
There's a lack of variety. If wasn't for Pauline's Caribbean soul cuisine I wouldn't survived.
I recommend Pittsburg for the adventurous
