We are the pioneers of NYC food tours since 1999!

Our tour will not only leave you full with EIGHT TASTINGS (not samples like on other Chelsea Market tours), but will include under-the-radar historical tales of Chelsea Market, like how it used to be a factory for Nabisco and the origin of the Oreo cookie. In addition to the trendy and bustling spots on the main floor, we will also visit Chelsea Local downstairs, where locals actually shop for their food.

8 tastings are included with this tour with two opportunities to sit down. All tastings are done inside Chelsea Market. We will make sure you leave full and satisfied with a buttermilk biscuit, homemade Italian crostata, NYC #1 hot dog, Pizza, Gelato and much much more!

Once outside, walk on the High Line, NYC’s elevated public park. You’ll hear compelling tales of the rail line that once served the West Side’s factories and butchers. You’ll wander through the Meatpacking District and find out how this area went from not to hot!

Join us as we reveal the secrets and uniqueness of one of the greatest indoor food markets. Discover why the OREO COOKIE was invented in this building in 1912. Enjoy artisanal foods including; an artisanal NY hot dog from Dickson’s, Sicilian Pizza from Filaga, NY State Cheeses from Saxelby’s, a delicious Italian Crostata from Buon Italia, a Japanese inspired Taco from Takumi Taco, Buttermilk Biscuit and Homemade Jam from Sarabeth’s, Gelato from L’arte Del Gelato, and always something special from Chelsea Market Baskets. Learn about the last of the Meatpacking District’s working butchers while learning about the nightlife revolution of this not-to-hot neighborhood.

The High Line Park

You'll take a guided walk on the HIGH LINE for three blocks, NYC’s elevated outdoor park. You’ll love hearing tales of the High Line trains that once served the butchers below the tracks and local industries, local building architecture and it's fashion scene, the Titanic and see the newly built Little Island.

Our tour guide Joe was fantastic, friendly, enthusiastic, engaging and very knowledgeable of the market and the history of each place we visited. At each stop he spoke of the sampling we were going to have, why he chose it, what it was and then more info on the purveyor. The amount of food for the full tour was perfect. The variety of items was a nice mixture as well.

I went with a friend on the Chelsea Market Foods of NY tour and we had a great guide, Joe! He had so much knowledge about the area and the generous places that gave us their food. The variety of food and the atmosphere was perfect. This was my second tour with Foods Of NY Tours and I’m already signed up for a third!

We did the Chelsea Market/High Line food tour with Robin as our guide. She was engaging and interesting. We loved the pace of the tour and all the stories behind the wonderful food selections. It was a highlight of our New York trip.
