Firstly, Suzette, who initially responded to my email queries, was one of the most helpful people I encountered on my trip. The trip itself was incredible! I was initially looking for a shorter (cheaper) kayak trip but I had difficulty finding one. The full day slogging and kayaking trip was a bit more than my budget, but eventually I booked it anyway. It was probably the best investment of my whole trip. Garl, the owner, was our guide. He is so knowledgeable about the glades and its flora and fauna. He's often asked to assist when National Geographic needs to film in the area. The slogging is literally through knee deep mud but it gets you into some of the most spectacular settings you could imagine. The kayaking is in fresh and salt water, so you see a variety of animals and plants. There were alligators close enough to touch (but don't!) as well as a variety of other amazing creatures. Nothing like sharing a drink while bobbing in a kayak and watching the sun go down. Absolutely unforgettable! (PS. I also rented my camping gear from them).

We had a phenomenal experience with a guided tour from Garl. Initially we planned to rent, but by opting for a tour we gained so much more from our time in the Everglades. Garl was able to take us off-trail to explore areas we would otherwise not see. He helped us safely view aligators and crocodiles by foot and by kayak, informing us all the while. Bugs were surprisingly a non issue the day we went, the Everglades were far less inhospitable than I would have guessed. The inability to get someone on the phone was a turn-off, but the staff are very responsive to inquiries through their website and email. Through chatting with Garl we changed other plans for the rest of our trip, and ended up having an excellent vacation! Sorry for gushing, but they certainly deserve their high rating.

We had a fantastic time slogging and kayaking the everglades with Garl. It was fascinating to be around such an expert on the ecosystem, and his wildlife tracking/spotting abilities are incredible. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a sense of adventure.
