On this breathtaking Safari you'll take a 60 minute boat ride out to the Davidson Glacier filled with the potential for wildlife including whales, bald eagles, sea lions, and mountain goats! Once docked, you'll take a short hike (1/4 mile) to our canoes and then you'll make your way out to the glacier itself! Prepare yourself to take in the sheer immensity and majesty of the Davidson Glacier. You can't have any experience like this anywhere else.

On this spellbinding wilderness expedition, you will travel through fjords and rain forests viewing some of the most spectacular Alaskan scenery in Southeast. You’ll see everything from wildflowers to towering mountains and top off the experience with up-close views of the Davidson Glacier. Your adventure begins aboard one of our boats custom-designed to provide an intimate viewing experience. During your 75-minute journey through North America’s deepest fjord, keep a lookout for whales, seals, and cascading waterfalls while your Naturalist guide tells you more about the area you are traveling through. Upon arrival at the remote Glacier Point beach, you will take a short, adventurous drive across the forested glacial moraines to our base camp where you will gear up in rubber boots and a life jacket. After a ¼ mile walk, the forest opens to reveal a breathtaking view of the Davidson Glacier and pristine lake below. Here you will board a 31-foot voyager canoe for a trip around the lake to view the glacier and enjoy the incredible Alaskan wilderness while your guide shares his extensive knowledge of the area. Conditions permitting, you’ll make a stop on the delta to get up close and personal with the glacier. This is an optional 1/2 to 1-mile hike over a sand and pebble beach. After returning to the base camp, enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach before your return trip on the custom designed wildlife-viewing boat .

Canoeing up to the base of the Davidson Glacier, was by far the highlight of our Alaskan cruise. I don't think there was any other way to see the glacier. Our guides were so much fun and informative. They seemed to be just as in awe as we were. They pulled chunks of the glacier out of the water for us to hold and look at. It was a long day with a boat ride and a couple of short hikes before the canoe trip. My only warning is that the boat ride over to glacier point is 70 minutes long and it's VERY choppy. So, if you're prone to seasickness, I don't think this is the trip for you. We had no problems on our trip. But, I could see some people having issues.

Visited on 7/12/19: This tour was so much fun. It started with Captain Steve and Billy on the 1 hour boat ride out to Glacier Point. They pointed out bald eagles, water falls, landmarks and told us history of the area. Josh was my canoe guide. He was funny, engaging and very knowledgeable about the area. Davidson Glacier was a bright blue and was a sight to see. The whole team on Glacier Point worked great as a team. We had a large tour group (50 people), so there were 5 guides: Josh, Max, Kenzie, Jill and Alyssa. I had a great time and enjoyed the entire tour. And the applesauce with lunch was so good. Tip: if they ask if you want to hear about their first job experience in Alaska, say YES. 😂

They took us on a cruise of the fjord and then on a bus ride and hike to the River formed by the waters of the melting glacier. From there, we took a canoe and upstream, disembarked and continued on foot until about 75 meters of the point where the glacier deposited its freezing water into the river. The cruise, the bus ride, the canoe and the walk were all a lot of fun and informative. But being there, so close to the gush of glacier water was magical. We lingered as much as we could, and then headed back to our canoes. The guides Max, Jake and others, answered our questions and expertly took us to the glacier. In the base camp they had boots, raincoats, life vests, everything we would need to fully participate in the experience. We enjoyed the trip, the vegetation, the scenery, we saw many bald eagles and a young humpback. Highly recommended!
