I totally recommend this tour, as we had a lot of fun and came back with incredible pictures.
We took the 7:30AM Glacier Point Wilderness Safari tour from Skagway, after arriving in the early morning from Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas cruise. The tour company met us right at the end of the pier, which was super convenient. We boarded a small boat and had a ride of around 45-60 min in the open water. We then boarded a school bus which took us to an area to get equipment (life vests, paddles) for the canoe portion. After canoeing across a lake (mostly powered by outboard motor), we hiked the last quarter mile to the glacier and had plenty of time to take pictures (and drink glacier melt). For this portion, our guide was Rachel, who told us lots of interesting things about the area and the glacier. Then we did the whole thing in reverse. For the snack, they had ham sandwiches and applesauce. My wife and I are vegetarian, so we just ate the applesauce. There was a small delay as one of the boats responded to an SOS call. The seas were very rough on the way back (we were told that the other tours that day were canceled). I was fine with it, but my wife was a little freaked out by the amount that the boat was pitching. In the end, it was totally worth it and would definitely recommend this.
