If we only had two to three hours to spend on the water and wanted show our friends or family what it's like to experience the thrill of Class III (Class IV at higher water) Colorado whitewater rafting and the beauty of Glenwood Canyon, this would be the trip we'd take them on. And if we only had two hours because everyone had plans after the trip, well, we'd probably cancel them so we could all go rafting.

At lower water levels it's perfect for first-timers, families, and people who like experiencing life rather than Snapchatting it. At higher water levels, typically late-Spring thru early-Summer, this experience is best for adrenaline junkies and experienced paddlers in good physical condition and without pre-existing medical conditions.

According to legend, if you gather in front of a mirror in a darkened room and chant "bootie juice," a Defiance raft guide will appear and show you their Chaco tan. If your Chaco tan defeats their Chaco tan, they'll let you raft the Shoshone Rapids twice in a row. I give Defiance Rafting Company 5 stars.

Did the half day trip. Defiance employees were great. Friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Enjoyed the rapids although they were a bit more calm than expected for our teenage group.

Hi, Nancy! Thanks for the feedback on your experience. We're at that funky water level where the typical highwater exciting stuff has mellowed a bit and the really exciting stuff remains off limits. It's always a challenge when the water level is between stages; fortunately, it's a temporary condition. That said, I'm glad to hear you and the teens still managed to have a great time out there. Defiance Rafting was perfect for our family. We were all fist timers and wanted to bring our 4-year old son along. They assured us he’d be fine, and he was. Our guide was so much fun. He was funny, answered questions from our 4-year old, and was so knowledgeable about rafting and the area. The trip was great for first timers. There were some fun rapids, but not too overwhelming. Plus the route they take is along a bald eagle’s nest. We saw two of them! Overall we had a great experience.
