Experience the most amazing views in all of Hawai'i: the sunrise atop Haleakala! After sunrise, you will leisurely ride custom Kona bikes from 6,500 ft. down the mountain for 20 miles of pure joy! We do the Switchbacks twice! before shuttling you down to Makawao to finish the bike ride to Haiku.

We booked a bad day unfortunately, which is not their fault, but we got up at 2am to go see a sunrise that was rained out and we couldn’t see more than 30 feet in front of us, so no crater views. This was unfortunate, but the only thing I can recommend on this front is be dressed for 30 degree weather and check the weather conditions 48 hours ahead of time and reschedule if it looks rainy. Because of the rain and the intense winds, the company wouldn’t let us bike down. The irritating part of all of this is that the company wouldn’t give us a full refund on the trip (they told us it would still be $50 a person even though we never left the bus) so we cancelled and had to still pay $50 a person for a wasted morning. On the bus ride down the sun came out and we could see the views, which were okay but nothing we wanted to see again. The roads also looked very dangerous and we did not want to bike down them even though we regularly do “dangerous” activities like cliff jumping from over 40ft cliffs. After getting back to town, locals told us many people have been severely injured and even died doing the bike ride and they don’t recommend it. Which doesn’t surprise me after seeing how fast the bus and other cars fly down the tight turns. I wouldn’t recommend this for the price but if you want to do it, check the weather and reschedule or cancel 48 hours ahead of time so you don’t have to pay $50 a person for no reason.

Aloha and thank you for your feedback. Cancelations before 48 hours would be issued a full refund. Cancelations Within that time period would be charged in full. If WE do cancel the ride prior to providing ANY services, then we are happy to provide a full refund. However there are certain situations in which we do provide services, and it is essential (especially in these times) to recover the costs of those services from those who decided to join us on their vacation. Our cancelation policy states that a 50% charge would be assessed in that situation, but we only asked for $50 per person. There are risks involved in an activity such as this. Locals who have not done the activity, but are on occasion hindered in their transit have been known to speak negatively of this activity and sometimes tourism in general, however we ask that visitors see what those who participated in the activity have to say, or speak with the many who are employed with a company like this and who pride themselves in ensuring a safe and fun adventure. There are many reviews on this site that do speak specifically to the bike ride and it's safety. It's not for everyone, but is a safe and enjoyable experience for most.

Corey is the best tour guide!! Got up extra early and it was SO worth it to see the stunning sunrise at the summit of Haleakalā! Despite the early hour our bus tour guide (Corey) was super friendly and helped prepare us for our bike ride down the mountain with tips and landmarks to look for. The bike ride itself was an easy coast with a few hairpin turns. The view of the entire island on the way down was unbeatable! I loved that we were able to go at our own pace! I highly recommend:)

It was a wonderful experience. The commentary was very helpful, informative, and fun. Very personable guides. The instructions were very good on the trip and helped us feel safe. Bike Maui provided rain clothing that was very helpful to us in all the wetness - both pants and coat. Also they provided a small backpack for our stuff.
