A fast and fun wildlife adventure awaits your family aboard our zodiac-style vessels (rigid inflatable boats). This cruise of up to 20 passengers gives you a thrilling 2-hour look at Southern California’s year-round whales and dolphins. With speeds of 30 knots or more, you’ll spend less time looking for animals and more time enjoying them! Your zodiac adventure will have you incredibly close to the ocean’s surface and within arm’s reach of wildlife. At the conclusion of your cruise, you'll receive one of Mrs. Capt. Dave's famously delicious Triple Fudge Brownies. (Some folks love the brownies more than the whales!)

We are a certified Responsible Whale Watching partner with the World Cetacean Alliance located in Dana Point, CA, the Dolphin and Whale Capital of the World®, and the first Whale Heritage Site in the Americas.

This is our 3rd trip with Captain Dave's. We've been on the larger boat once, but prefer the smaller boat because you do (or at least can) get better views. The staff is very knowledgeable and personable. Every trip I've been on, they're willing to stay out there a little longer (so long as everyone is OK with it) if you find something at the end. Today we saw both a Minke and Blue Whale which are fairly rare to see. On another trip we saw a mother and calf. Wildlife obviously need to be found, but Captain Dave's does a great job communicating with the other boats in the area to give you the best chance to see the animals. And you'll always at least see a pod of dolphins which is pretty thrilling. Highly recommend, and I will keep going back to them.

We've done both the zodiac trip and the signature trip on the larger boat with the glass viewing pods and had a great experience both times. The captains are very knowledgeable about the local sea life. We had a great time with Captain Marie and first mate Caitlin this past weekend and would recommend this company for anyone looking to do whale watching out of Dana Point. I really appreciate that they give you a voucher if you somehow don't see anything on your trip, although luckily this wasn't an issue for us. It shows that they really care about your experience.

Chuck and Lauren were great. Longtime customer! So many whale watching companies to choose from here in Los Angeles/Orange County area but Captain Dave’s is the way to go!!!
