The Bitterroot National Forest is an incredibly beautiful and rugged place with amazing mountains and deep glacial canyons. The trails are not always well maintained, and often times seasonal creeks will deter folks who aren't used to water crossings. You'll be glad you brought a guide along!

The hike and packraft float is an experience unique to Bitterroot Backpacking. You will not find any other guide or company providing this service! (And if you do, they probably found the idea here!)

We absolutely loved this whole trip. The hike was just perfect, not too long or strenuous for our family of 5, but the perfect amount to feel like we had earned it when we arrived at the lake. The pack rafting experience was amazing!! Luke was a great guide - knowledgeable able the plants and animals, patient with the kids’ million questions, easy and fun to talk to, and really experienced with the trail (as well as many others throughout Montana - gave us fantastic recommendations for out next stop in Glacier NP). Highly recommend!!

We greatly enjoyed the Bitterroot hike and pack raft experience. Luke was very knowledgeable and personable. He was prepared and focused on safety. The scenery was fantastic. Would do it again!

From the start we realized this would be a superb day! Luke was prepared and had everything covered, from bear spray to hiking poles, water, snacks and the best hot lunch cooked for us Lake-side. We hiked, we laughed and we took in the majestic beauty of the Bitteroot , MT. Once we reached our summit he inflated kayaks for us to use on crystal clear waters of Montana mountains and after lunch we saw the most incredible black bear cubs and mamma and he confidently lead us past them and have this seared in our memory. We also took a dip in the clearest glacier pools and this trip went down as the highlight of our Montana visit. We highly recommend Luke!
