We went Shrimp Trawling with our two sons (5 and 4 years old) and their cousins (ages ranged from 2 to 10). Sky and Spike did a great job explaining the shrimp trawling process and answering our many questions about the Hilton Head area!
The first half of the trip was a little boring for our kids since the net has to sit out for a significant amount of time and there is little to do. Make sure to bring water and possibly an umbrella for shade.
Once the net came up it was worth the wait! The net catches many different types of animals that the kids got to hold (i.e. sting ray, fish, jelly fish, hermit crabs, etc.). The non-shrimp animals attracted pelicans, dolphins, and even a shark! It was amazing! Our boys also loved popping the heads off the shrimp! Even with 19 people on board, we got a pretty sizable batch to cook up for dinner!
The boat is small and, even though the waters are calm, my nephew got seasick. If you have motion sickness, I'd recommend avoiding. Also - this trip was probably not ideal for the 2 year old since manuevering around the deck can be tricky.
