Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

Due to a change in our cruise itinerary, we did not get to take this tour after we paid for it. All our funds were quickly sent back to us. We didn't get to take the tour but this company was very easy to work with and we hope to get back to Alaska in the future.

We had a great tour with Joardan and loved the personalized aspect of it. We had rain that day but it did not stop us from seeing whales! Joardan is very soft spoken and sweet and knows so much about the area as he and his family spend their time between Juneau and Hoonah. We were treated to his wife's homemade blueberry muffins and a personal tour of Hoonah which was unexpected but very appreciated!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Instead of booking through the cruise ship, we booked a ‘private’ tour and couldn’t have been more pleased! Home made muffins, hot chocolate and coffee awaited us as we started our adventure! Tracked down pods of whales and even watched them feed 40’ off the shore!! WOW!! Who knew that our Captain would be a town Celebrity! We’ll, grandson of a town celebrity! But he didn’t brag about it, we asked about his family and he shared, it wasn’t until we went to the local gift shop and saw a picture of him AND his grandfather hanging on the wall!! I have already referred close friends and they are scheduling theirs!!
