Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

Pick up at the cruise port was so easy! Once we got on the boat, as a matter of FULL disclosure :D, I was wondering what was going on. We were not seeing anything and Jordan was a man of few words. HOWEVER, our tour only got better and better over the next couple of hours. Jordan is a great guy, so don't be afraid to ask questions and open up- he'll do the same! We ended up seeing multiple breeches, tail slaps, rolls, and even heard whale talk. (*It's nothing like Dori makes it out to be, even though we tried to talk to them). The boat Jordan uses is awesome for small parties, and you can't beat the personal service we received by Jordan and Maraiya. Overall, a WONDERFUL local business to support.

We are soooo happy that we went on the tour with Jordan instead of one of the Celebrity Shore Excursions. There were only 6 guests onboard and we had a wonderful day. Jordan was very patient and knowledgeable with all of us and we saw quite s few whales as well as sea otters and sea lions. Jordon’s wife picked us up at a very convenient location close to the cruise dock and dropped us right next to their Boat. Their boat was comfortable and clean and very seaworthy. We would highly recommend This whale watching tour.

If you want to see whales up close and personal without a crowd of people in the boat trying to get in the best position to take photos, this is the cruise for you. Joardan and Moriah work very hard to make sure that you are comfortable and taken care of during your tour. Moriah meets you at the Tour Center and takes you to the dock in Hoonah where Joardan is waiting. Jordan is a native of the area and he has the experience and contacts to find you the best whale watching experience. Joardan's tour takes a total of six guests and there is plenty of room in the heated cabin or on deck so that everyone gets a comfortable ride and a very good vantage point to see the whales. After about a forty minute ride out on the water, Joardan found the area where the whales were feeding and we spent about an hour watching the whales. sea otters and sea lions. Joardan is extremely careful not to disturb the feeding of the whales but you get close enough to get great photos if that is what you want to do. Joardan has been doing the whale tours and has been a professional fisherman most of his life so he knows his business. Joardan's boat is a very comfortable vessel and has plenty of power to get you where you want to go and get you back to the dock in a hurry. Joardan was very aware of the time and made sure that we returned to the dock in plenty of time to board the cruise ship on time. Don't let the cruise line frighten you that this tour may not get you back to the ship on time. If you would like a snack, bottled water or coffee while on the cruise, Joardan makes sure those are available for you. Take this tour. You will not be disappointed.
