Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

Our cruise ship arrived 2h late at Icy Strait Point. After I had called them, Jordan and Maraiya were super accommodating and still took us on the tour we had booked. Because this is an independent operator, we got a free ride into the little quaint village of Hoonah and it's little harbor. The sea was a choppy, so Jordan offered to give us a refund if we didn't want to go after all. We decided to still go and are glad we did. The boat is great! It easily accommodated the 4 of us and we had a lot of space to move all around the boat to get a great view at the whales. The boat was steady to make this a very pleasurable experience. Jordan was a great captain and shared stories and photos of his family and the area. We saw several humpback whales close up. We also got very lucky and saw a pod of Orcas chasing a sea lion - what a spectacle! All in all, I can highly recommend this tour. Thanks, Jordan!

The owner and captain was very knowledgeable. Took us to several whale sightings. Comfortable boat, great visibility. There were only four of us on the boat, it only holds 6 so everyone can see.

Had an amazing whale watching trip with our family of 5. Jordan led us right out to the whales and we had such a memorable day! We probably saw 6 breaches, whales slapping the water, and at one point the entire boat was surrounded by whales. We also saw sea lions, otters, salmon jumping and eagles. Our younger children LOVED the morning. Thank you so much Jordan! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Hoonah and Icy Strait Point.
