We had no idea who Mel Fisher was when we paid to go into the museum - we know who he is now! I liked the fact that there was a flat $15 entrance fee, no sales tax included. We declined the audio tour. We started off with a short film on Fisher's hunt for the Nuestra Señora de Atocha and meaning on the sign over the front door - "Today's the day".
The museum if filled with interesting finds from the Atocha, some stunning jewelry, coins, part of the hull and so much more, information on pirates, wreckers, female pirates. There was also a very interesting section on the slave trade and another on Cubans doing what they can to reach America. That really resonated with us.
An interesting way to spend a couple of hours.
