We spent 3.5hrs with Oz, our tour guide. We hadn’t booked as a private tour, but that’s what we got as we were the only guests (family of 4). Oz collected us from our hotel in the Garden District and then gave us a very full tour of NOLA. We started in the French Quarter and moved on through a number of other neighbourhoods, including the Lower 9th. As is often the case with these tours, our guide, Oz, made it what it was. He was supremely knowledgable, having certified as guide back in 1992. He shared not only his extensive knowledge of the history of New Orleans, but also shared his own, personal experience of Katrina and beyond. We’d previously spent two days on walking tours (one food, the other historical). This tour, in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle was a pleasant change. You don’t get the same degree of “up close” as you do on a walking tour, but this does take in a number of miles of travel, that would not be practical on foot. Given the time spent (more than 3hrs), the fact that we had it all to ourselves and the encyclopaedic knowledge of Oz, this tour was an absolute bargain at less than $40 per person. Recommend.
