Honestly, I was disappointed. The buses were very crowded and very hard to catch. In some cases buses got filled up and the rest of us were turned away. Although they're advertised as hop-on-hop-off, none of us wanted to get off for fear that we wouldn't be able to get back on again. Having said that, they made everyone get off at the loop starting point so you'd have to line up again if you wanted to finish your tour at any stop past the starting point (after having done a full loop). There was often a very long wait in a very long line, to get on. Some of the tours are recorded (not great recordings and they didn't always match where we were) and some are live (much better). The whole thing felt like a zoo. I ended up not using much of my ticket because I felt there were much better ways to see the city. I chose a pick three pass and was told that the three options I had chosen were available. It wasn't until I got to those places that I found that Grayline's contract with some of them has expired. For example, the Lincoln Center tour is supposed to be one of the pick three options but actually isn't anymore, despite what the person at the Grayline desk said. I ended up paying for that twice. Worth knowing that their website isn't up to date and the routes have changed, as well. I had planned my trip ahead of time, using the Grayline website, and only found out when I arrived that everything was totally different from what their website said. The one big exception was the Brooklyn tour guide (I think his name started with a T). He was super great. He knew his material, he had a great personality, and he was just amazing. No idea what he is doing on the Grayline tours; he is so much better than that!

Go with the Big B Bus instead. There are way more busses for that company. Also getting on one of these busses is horrible. People shoved in front of us and then when there were only enough spots for three people, which is exactly what we had, and I was next, trying to hand the man our tickets, he went with the attractive woman behind us instead. He completely ignored me and my family even though we were next. We did not get on the bus, instead we had to stand in the heat for another 30 minutes. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

If you are thinking of booking a bus tour whilst your in new York then I'd advise not to book grey line. We visited in July and booked a three day pass with three excursions. The bus intercom was hit and miss, had to wait ages for a bus and one actually broke down with no replacement. We wanted to use one trip for the empire State building and although still advertised on line it's no longer included in the offer. Other companies have for frequent buses so for a hop on hop of don't book grey line. We don't do refunds sorry even if you don't get the service we offer. Very poor.
