PLEASE NOTE that visibility of the northern lights (aurora) is not guaranteed. It is a natural phenomenon we have no control over and no refunds will be given if the aurora cannot be seen.

The road to Murphy Dome is steep and if it is not plowed or is too icy and dangerous we will take customers to an alternative location that provides the same opportunity to see the aurora.

Jared gave some nice information on Fairbanks and the Aurora Lights. We reached Murphy Dome around 11:30pm on 2/17/, the moon was bright, the sky a bit cloudy as we arrived but cleared up as our guide told us it would earlier. The kp was low, but 30mn after our arrival the Aurora Lights came out and got brighter. We barely saw them on the naked eye but took some nice pictures. Over all we felt lucky to see them on our first night out. And overall it was a great experience.

First we got there With experience driver. We got stuck in the ditch for over an hour until somebody came and help us with his truck. After all this we still did not see the northern light

Joseph, While we do apologize for your experience, the person who came to help with a company van was our mechanic who is on 24 hour standby to assist with any vehicle issues. We would like to point out that having help arrive in 60 minutes from the moment you got stuck, in the middle of the night, speaks to our company having perfectly working contingency plans for anything that may go wrong on a tour. We pride ourselves on taking safety very seriously, and help is always available, 24 hours a day, for any of our tours. We regret that you missed the Northern Lights, but that is always a risk on any Aurora tour.

Murphy’s Dome is quite popular so lots of cars and lights. Luckily a low cloud bank provided some foreground while keeping the focus above all the activity. The van door was super hard to open to get in and out, which you do with the cold temps. Very frustrating for smaller people who could not open it at all.
