The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

Cesar is an amazing local tour guide! LA Jolla is full of magic...from the sea floor to the top of the caves.

One word. Terrible!!! I would give zero stars if I could. We went on the cave kayak tour. We never even came close to the caves. We never saw any wildlife. The waves were too rough. I am sure they knew this before they took us out, but didn't tell us until we were already out in the very strong waves. My friend threw up from how bad the waves were knocking us around. She could not finish the trip. Another person on the tour fell in and had a great amount of difficulty getting back in the kayak. Our guide just kept us out there and told us stories. I finally asked if we were going to see the caves. She said no-- it was too dangerous. Once we got back in, I asked to have some of my money refunded and was told no. Their policy is: Once the kayak hits the water- no refunds allowed. I felt very deceived!! They said 40-50% of the time, the caves are never seen. This is not advertised correctly at all. Don't waste your money on this!!!

Our goal every day is to see sea life in La Jolla’s Marine Reserve, which is world famous for kayaking, snorkeling and diving (due to all the sea life), to explore La Jolla’s unique geology & natural beauty from the water and to kayak inside of Emerald Cave (If it’s safe). Our tour guide's number one priority is keeping you guys safe, and since the ocean is an uncontrolled environment, we can't ever guarantee to get everyone close to the caves. Most importantly we want you to have fun, and I’m sorry you clearly did not enjoy it. Our guide Liam was awesome. He gave great instruction and kept the kayaking outing fun with great insights into the history and fun facts.
