The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

This was not a good tour at all. We only got to go into one sea cavern for 90 seconds, and we were turned around backwards the entire time by our tour guide, making it very hard to the sea lions. Very expensive for just kayaking in the bay...we should have just rented kayaks to do by ourselves. Having a tour guide was a total waste of money.

Hey Cnraines, We are stoked you got to safely experience the La Jolla Sea Caves from the inside! It took over tens of thousands of years of massive ocean storms eroding away the sand stone of the rare North Facing Sea Cliffs to create this natural wonder in La Jolla. Only a very small percentage of the population gets to go inside, so that's very cool. Thank you for your business, and taking the time to leave us a review. This was a very disappointing experience. The guides were very nice and funny, but the experience was way overpriced for what we got. I understand if it’s too rough to go in the caves, but their plan B was to have a competition to see who could stand up on a kayak for 10 seconds. They talked about all the different ecosystems, but all we saw was seaweed. We basically kayaked to the caves, sat there for 45 minutes and kayaked back. My son had a hard time kayaking the single kayak and the guide just paddled past without offering any tips. My recommendation would be to just rent a kayak and go out on your own. It’s a lot cheaper and you see the same things.

Loved this excursion! Our main guide, Phillip M and assistant Devon were upbeat, helpful and informative. We had fun and learned a lot about the history and sea life of the area. We got to pop into one of the caves which was cool. The surf was a bit strong for more cave exploration but we got a view of them from fairly close up.
