The views are amazing, but the tram ride is only ten minutes long. Considering the hassle to pay for parking, take a packed tram, wait in another line, make a reservation, wait more with hundreds of people packed into a small area, then take a ten minute tram ride, I was confused what the big deal was. It's like going to Disney land to go on one ride and then leaving.
I would rather spend that time at Joshua Tree National Park, which is the same price, but for 7 days of equally amazing views.
Give yourself half of a day if you decide to check it out.
-There is also a "museum" in the lodge area, which was very disappointing. It was sloppy and clearly not considered very important.
*It should also be noted that I went when it was very cold and snowy, so I did not do any hiking at the top of the mountain. I heard that it is wonderful to explore once you reach the top of the mountain. Perhaps that would have made my experience better.
