We had a great experience fishing. He was right outside the cruise ship ready and waiting for us. He provided us with snacks and drinks and promptly got us to the fishing location. Our goal was to catch three halibut and we did! We went back to ketchikan early and he even incorporated some whale watching on the way back. Friendly and accommodating, I would recommend.

We had a great day fishing 5/31/19. Mike our guide was on time and exceeded everything we expected. His boat and equipment are to of the line.His knowledge of the fishing is was 100%. We are putting together a second trip and will fish with Alaska Catch again. You can Stop looking now this is the guide you want. O Ha caught out limit of Halibut some Cod and rock fish. (NICE)

Fishing in Ketchikan with Captain Mike was the highlight of our Alaskan cruise!! We were blessed with great weather on our port day, and would book with Mike and The Alaska Catch again in any weather, it was that great of a day!! We booked to do some crabbing and fish halibut, so we started off by laying four crab traps at his favorite crabbing spot. Mike showed us how to hook the bait into the traps and had us lower the traps down and throw out the buoy, letting us be super hands on as much as we wanted. We then headed off to the halibut fishing spot, and Mike told us about his preferred area to fish and why and was really informative all day long, you can just tell the wealth of knowledge and experience he has under his belt. It's clear that fishing is his passion and you can just completely tell how much he wants to share and help you learn about it as well. Captain Mike was so thorough on explaining everything we needed to know, and did not make any of us feel like we couldn't ask for his help or advice. When we caught our first fish, Mike was right there to walk us through what to do and took care of all the details with the catch, making it seem so flawlessly easy. He is really very skilled at what he does. We were early in the season and ended up catching two halibut. We also caught a spiny dogfish shark, and two rat fish, which we did a catch and release. I was mainly excited to catch anything, no matter what type of fish it was! At the end of our time, we headed back over to where we had first laid out the crab traps a few hours earlier. Again, Mike made it so easy to let us be so hands on with it all as much or as little as we wanted. We were all happily surprised to have all four pods be filled with crab! Of those crabs, we were able to take five back that were male and of legal size, and cooked the crab right back at the pier and chowed down with Mike. It was the perfect ending to an amazing day out at sea crabbing and fishing. At the end of the day together, it really felt like we had gained a new friend, and were not just another client to check off the list, as some other tour guides sometimes make you feel. We will 100% be booking with Mike and the Alaska Catch the next time we come to Ketchikan and I cannot give enough recommendations for this fishing excursion.

I enjoyed everyone’s company, conversations, and the jokes that came along the way. Have a great summer and enjoy the fresh Halibut fillets!
