Private Tour of Mesa Verde With an Archeologist-Trained Guide

Experience some of the most notable and best-preserved archaeological sites in the United States. Mesa Verde encompasses over 80 square miles and protects over 5,000 archaeological sites, including the famous Cliff Palace and nearly 600 cliff dwellings, some of which are more than 800 years old. Tickets for Cliff Palace are an additional purchase.
When you book this tour you’ll sit back and relax while our experienced, knowledgeable archaeologist-trained guide takes you around the National Park. With your guide’s knowledge, you will be able to ask questions, read literature, and listen to your own customized tour of the park.

PLEASE NOTE: We are NOW OFFERING CLIFF PALACE with the tickets. All guides have been trained extensively by our in-house archeologists.
This tour requires a 2-person minimum. If minimums are not met a full refund will be given. *Gratuity not included*.

We took a one day tour of Mesa Verde with Dave Moler of Durango RiverTrippers. Dave probably forgets more about Mesa Verde in one day than most of us will learn about in a lifetime. He is the perfect guide. Mesa Verde is so much more than just what you see in a snapshot of a postcard. We witnessed the remains of an obviously complex society now long gone. Throughout the day we enjoyed talking with Dave about what life must have been like to live at that time and what caused the disruption of that civilian. It should be on your bucket list. We stayed in a home called Blue Lake Ranch. The setting is serene and picturesque, and the hospitality of the owners is unparalleled. Staying at Blue Lake Ranch and hiring Durango RiverTrippers for a tour of Mesa Verde, river running and jeeping are a perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors!

The trip to Mesa Verde was great ! Our guide Paul O'Brian was excellent - very knowledgeable and fun to be with for the day. He tried very hard to pace the day, so we saw a lot, but not exhaust us. He had a very engaging way about him that made the visit perfect ! It did help that the day we went was absolutely beautiful ...deep blue SW sky at the peak of the colors changing in autumn ! Highly recommend Paul.

My family and I went on the Mesa Verde experience with Denise. We had an amazing time. We had been to Mesa Verde approximately 3 months prior, but decided we wanted a different experience this time to help us better understand the area and the people. Denise was extremely knowledgeable and provided just what we were hoping for. She provided us much more information than what we were able to gather from the traditional park ranger tour. Her knowledge of the area, the people, and their stories was very enlightening. She was also current on modern academic scholarship regarding these topics. The trip was well worth the money and the experience was the highlight of our vacation. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are interested in learning more about the people and area of Mesa Verde.
