The drive from Tooele to the Onaqui HMA will take approximately 45 minutes & once we arrive at the range, there are various locations where we will begin to look for the herd grazing, resting or coming to/from the watering holes. Depending on where the horses are located, there will be walking involved, so close toed shoes are required, and dressing in layers is also recommended.

During your time in the field you will receive one on one photography instruction to help you improve your technical skills as well as your ability to creatively frame an image. Achieving beautiful wildlife photographs is about more than just being in the right place at the right time, it's about seeing the possibilities of the scene unfolding in front of you through the lens. Please bring your cell phone and/or camera but no external light sources or drones.

Detailed info. about the individual horses, families and herds is also provided throughout our time on the range.

Min age is 10 years old.

Guests will be driven along the historic Pony Express Trail from Lookout Pass down into the Skull valley on the way to view and photograph the wild Onaqui mustangs. Historical points of interest may be seen along the way and brief stops for photographic opportunities are made available.

We have always wanted to photograph wild horses and there are a handful of guides available for each herd across the country - our trip with Jen out of tooele Utah could not have been more perfect and we are set to return in two weeks - it’s such an easy drive from Salt Lake City and Jen is so in touch with the horses that it’s a short and beautiful drive to the horses from tooele - her knowledge about these horses in general and this heard in particular is unsurpassed and as a photographer herself she puts you in the right spot for the shots you need - she is also just a delight to be with - don’t hesitate to let her take you on this magical adventure - louis and Rhonda
