The drive from Tooele to the Onaqui HMA will take approximately 45 minutes & once we arrive at the range, there are various locations where we will begin to look for the herd grazing, resting or coming to/from the watering holes. Depending on where the horses are located, there will be walking involved, so close toed shoes are required, and dressing in layers is also recommended.

During your time in the field you will receive one on one photography instruction to help you improve your technical skills as well as your ability to creatively frame an image. Achieving beautiful wildlife photographs is about more than just being in the right place at the right time, it's about seeing the possibilities of the scene unfolding in front of you through the lens. Please bring your cell phone and/or camera but no external light sources or drones.

Detailed info. about the individual horses, families and herds is also provided throughout our time on the range.

Min age is 10 years old.

Guests will be driven along the historic Pony Express Trail from Lookout Pass down into the Skull valley on the way to view and photograph the wild Onaqui mustangs. Historical points of interest may be seen along the way and brief stops for photographic opportunities are made available.

My friend and I had a great experience photographing the wild Mustangs in Utah with Jen Rogers. Jen is knowledgeable about the horse bands and can anticipate their behavior. She would alert us when she knew that there would be action. She puts safety first and kept us and the horses safe. It was apparent that she has a genuine love for these magnificent animals. I would return to photograph these beauties with Jen in a heartbeat! Linda Berman

I can’t imagine trying to see these beautiful horses without Jen. She is extremely knowledgeable about this herd and knows how to find them while maintaining top- notch ethical and professional standards. Had a fantastic time!

Not only does Jen work hard to get you in the right location for viewing and photographing the horses, her personal knowledge about the individual horses and their histories adds so much to the experience of being with them. She has spent a lot of time with the different bands and is aware of their personalities, relationships and lineage. Before a sparring match between stallions even happens, she will give you a heads up where to look, knowing it's coming. Planning to go back with her again!
